About Menopassé
Landscape with contrasts: mountains, tree growth, homes, and technology

Menopause happened early to me, in my mid-forties. It took me by surprise and I felt unprepared for the changes it has brought into my body and how I move in the world. Ironically, it has also converged with growing up and feeling really generally great about my life. This newsletter is multiple things: a return to a love of non-academic and public writing aka 'blogging' (because I'm of that internet generation); a public-personal diary about navigating how bodies change; advocating for different ways to talk about menopause from the perspective of people experiencing it; railing against the dissatisfying cultural politics of gender, sexuality, and aging; the explosion of the wellness industry around menopause; and thinking through the role of pharmacotherapies, medicalisation, self-tracking, and living longer and healthier in this transition. I want us to feel good about this time in our lives and to be supported by the people who love us. Because peri-menopause and menopause can also be quite awful. I post every few weeks and for now this newsletter is free.
